I found it was also helpful to delete the cookies used by the Lemmy instance. For example, after a botched backend upgrade on lemmy.world, I was having UI glitches and clearing the cache didn't help. But after I deleted the lemmy.world cookie (had to log in again) everything worked perfectly.
