Wonder Woman grew up on an island populated by only women. She would not be surprised.

Ah yes because people are always 1100% saying exactly what they mean instead of using jokes, hyperbole and other stuff. Just in case a pedant walks by and goes "hurr durr not a lie detector" when it's perfectly understandable to both people talking what they mean.

Wonder Woman's lasso does significantly better than our real world equivalent of at best, measuring somebody's stress when you've intentionally put them in a stressful situation.

Sheeple@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Wonder woman's lasso doesn't even detect lies. It just forces you to speak the truth with a varying compulsion to reveal secrets depending on author.

Calling it a lie detector is an odd thing when it's the one thing it can't do

Edit: I stand corrected on my last point

21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com · 4 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I think that'd actually be a pretty easy thing to use as a lie detector, just wrap the thing around whomever and say "say that again".

Gabu@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Or literally just ask "were you lying"?

21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com · 1 pts · 2y

That's a way better idea.

Scumbag caught by the lasso: "That again."
