I've been awarded gold over the years for various stupid comments, and I've never been able to keep up with spending it. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do with it (before I shred my account this month) that will hasten Reddit's demise.

Haha, I'm definitely considering seeing what I can get for it as it has nearly half a million karma too, but I don't want a spammer (I assume it's all spammers buying them) to get their hands on my gold if I can do something more targeted with it 😈

Inviting spammers and other malicious actors onto Reddit would be bad for Reddit.
Alternatively, you could use some script to mass edit your comments and posts to replace with garbage.

I don't know of any good scripts for that. The search results all lead back to subreddits currently private

Haha, I just had the same d'oh moment earlier when clicking on a result. It must be driving everyone who doesn't actually use Reddit mad.

Maybe use it to buy awards for posts announcing or supporting the migration or protest?

Yeah, maybe focusing on comments that actually point people to join-lemmy.org would help.
