Apparently the reason they are starting over is because season 2 skipped volume 4 of the novels and that turned out to be vital later, so they ruined the plot. Big whoops.
I actually just watched Spice and Wolf for the first time this year. I'll definitely have to check out the new one and compare, I liked the original well enough.

When I saw the post about the teaser, I honestly thought it was actually season 3. Man. Gonna be a while to see new content.
I hope they intend to adapt the whole series. Though I guess that depends on BD sales.
