I can input 7 digit song IDs in the Steam build of 2.1. Since when is this possible? Was there a secret patch or was it always there? It doesn't work on the Android version, though. It was said that it's fixed in 2.2, but it already seems so partly.

It's a problem specifically in android. Windows and iOS don't seem to have this problem

For android specifically, I've found that OpenBoard seems to work to bypass the 6-digit limit. Any keyboard that shows Geometry Dash while typing should work the same way, though.
