A horse, a lance, and a gas mask? WW1 was crazy!

The lance is actually interesting too - it's not traditional, not a wooden pole with a metal head. It's all-metal - a hollow tube of rolled steel.

It's wild to think that a soldier with a javelin or spear on horseback was an incredibly important component of warfare for thousands of years and it all ended, historically speaking, 5 seconds ago.

Can you imagine if they gave the horse a gas mask too? Would be even cooler

There are definitely WW1 horse gas masks out there, I'll see if I can dig a good one up.
