I am logged in on on reddthat.com and would like to join Festundflauschig@feddit.de
However, the search in wefwef.app (which I am currently using to access lemmy) returns nothing.
What am I doing wrong?

Check this comment out.
Some information here may be outdated as there was a recent update to the Lemmy server that's in the process of trickling down to instances and it may have fixed some of the glitches, but the general procedure still applies - i.e. paste the fully qualified community name in the search box and submit - it should eventually show up as a single result. Clicking that result will take you to the mirror of that federated community on your instance, on which you can then subscribe.

I am nearly certain I tried all that yesterday and it didn't work, but only now does it work! I can find the community. Thanks!
However, trying the same with the community fragfeddit does not work. So I am still trying to figure out where I did something wrong. :-/
I followed the advice to search for !fragfeddit@feddit.de as stated in the link, but that doesn't work.
Edit: This comment also recommends the approach you suggested, but it doesn't seem to work for me. https://reddthat.com/comment/173066

The community in question can be accessed via https://feddit.de/c/festundflauschig if that helps or even is necessary.
