This article was mostly fluff but I haven't seen much ml talk.
I do wish nvidia had more competition, though I somewhat doubt AMD will offer it soon. Having competive performance in PyTorch is a good start.

No one stays at the top for long. It wasn't that long ago that, CPU-wise, people were talking about how little real competition Intel had.
The other thing is that yes, Nvidia has the best GPUs and GPU-like chips for certain things, but basically the whole world hates them and wants alternatives.
