All apps are too new and don't have that implemented yet. You'll have to go through your browser to start a new community.

Mlem is beta software and is not finished yet. Give it time or contribute to the project to help it happen

Using Liftoff and I don’t see an option for that either. It’s possible that the feature hasn’t been added yet!
