I had this issue earlier. I discovered that if I opened the image I wanted to share in am editing program (Photoshop, Snapseed, whatever) and saved it without changing anything, then the image would post here correctly.
Bit of a pain to have to make a copy, but it works so far. By the way, just copy pasting the file did not work for me, it had to be a new save.
It seems like when I open Pic posts, a ton of the picture hangs off the edge of the screen. Perhaps it's defaulted to landscape where when you post a portrait it just does not compute, and flips it to fit. These are assumptions. I'm sure it has been noticed...hopefully
