It's a weird accepted fact that everyone despises, dismisses, denies and disregards but otherwise believe is true
It's so widely accepted by anyone who has read a bit of recent history over the past 50 years that all evidence points to the fact that they were complicit in assassinating their own president in 1963.
People on Lemmy like to argue and I'm taking a strong stance on something here. With those two things in mind, I'm expecting some level of push-back. (Which, admittedly, has yet to materialize.)
Political interference and regime change isn't exactly designed to strike fear into anyone in particular, it was all about power projection and creating perceived buffers against the spread of communism. Not sure how any of that falls under the definition of terrorism
Yeah but the CIA didn't do any of those things, the military did the bombings and the death squads were funded but not operated by the CIA. Sponsor of terrorism? Sure, I can see that a argument. Terrorist organization though is just an incorrect label imo.

You're getting push-back on it being described as an unpopular opinion!

It's unpopular outside of this platform. It's unpopular for a reason. Conspiracies do well here as well.
