I suspect this has something to do with the absolute mountain of evidence against him. The guy wasn't subtle. He just operated under the assumption he would never be charged.

The videos of them hauling boxes out of Mar-A-Lago, from a legal point of view, are like videos of Donald Trump chopping up people with an axe. All these discussions of "did he commit a crime?" are absurd. His lawyers quit for a reason.
