The base game is 75% off at the moment. I've played the game for around 50 hours before I got the DLC and think it's one of the most underrated 4x games, especially if you like cozy gameplay and a good story.
It's a lot more like CIV than Stellaris.

I really liked endless space when I played it, the endless games are usually pretty solid!
