What's wrong with your reading comprehension?

I never said I supported Assad, I'm glad he's gone.

What we have now is not significant better, and has every indication that it's going in the same direction, except instead of siding with Russia they're siding with US.

If history is worth any lessons, we can expect the average Syrian's living conditions to be significantly worse than under Assad, Sadnaya may be closed, but Julani's gangs murdering minorities in public is not exactly better...

The Syria we grew up with is gone, ripped apart by foreign fighters, and colonial powers are grabbing what's left over. Assad was bad, that doesn't make Julani good.

What I said is that Syria had a formidable army under Assad, an army that engaged in wars and won, an army that fought Israel before, an army that was organized and equipped. That simply doesn't exist anymore, the civil war erased it.

That's not a compliment of Assad, it's just a statement of fact.

No, they're saying you don't bend out of your way to say Russia is fighting there Ukrainian government and is not targeting Ukrainians, yet despite watching them proudly and gleefully live stream their genocide of Palestinians, some of you still insist it's okay to say Israel is fighting a war with Hamas.

Used to be... Syria used to have a decent army under Assad, but decades of foreign fueled civil war have reduced it to nothing.

Lebanon is ruled by US puppets today, but Hezballah remains free and a true resistance to Israeli aggression.

Now that Syria is controlled by a US puppet, who will fight Israel? There are no organized groups left in Syria that seriously oppose US imperialism and Israeli expansion.

But they keep implying they are software engineers using JSON in a development capacity... I'd understand a system admin updating a config file to only be familiar with the syntax, but if you're consuming JSON in your code you either understand the spec enough to implement it, or you didn't write that code...

Something rubbed me wrong about not knowing what JSON is and insulting web developers as not real software engineers in the same breath.

So it wasn't Trump's firing of an honest lady, politicians lie, including the ones you like.

There's a problem on both sides of American politics with politician worship, they cannot accept any criticism of their guy, especially if it's a factual rebuttal to a negative statement they made about the other guy.

They can't accept someone pointing out the timeline doesn't follow Trump being the only bad guy, so downvotes and "Biden is not president".

Yeah, and Trump didn't invent lying about job numbers, him being the current president doesn't mean you can credit him for pioneering every wrong doing he's ever done, he's mostly following established precedents, he just did away with any formalities and attempt to hide it.

What's unhinged is people downvoting and throwing insults at people who say drone strike civilians Obama was a centrist neo-liberal.

Stop worshipping politicians. Obama was not nearly as bad as any replication in living memory, but he is not a progressive or a leftist, he's a neo liberal capitalist who serves the same class interests.

That wouldn't work for this...

A domain, a full fledged one or a free dyndns subdomain tells the world how to communicate with your ip, but it isn't involved when you talk to the world.

When your software is hitting the API from your network, all the API sees is your IP address, it has no knowledge of any urls that may point to it.

OP just needs to hope their IP address doesn't change regularly, and give them their public IP to whitelist.

I am boss man. I have lots of money, I don't need to work, you need work or you die.

You work for me, I give you payment. It's a good payment, more than average person, you can live comfortably on it.

But your work gave me a yacht. You exchanged a multi million dollar yacht for $1 million. Why? Because I had the leverage to force you to accept such a shitty deal. If you didn't need to make this deal to live, you'd tell me to shove it and go make all your money's worth with your labor.

Capitalism is exploitative by design, and a capitalist contributes nothing but control of industry. Valve and Steam is a great platform to use today, that doesn't make Gabe a good guy or somehow mean he deserves the vast majority of his employees' labor value.

That's not what they're saying. They're saying llms are getting so good at revealing vulnerabilities that they have to put focus and effort on finding and fixing them before external malicious actors do.

Yeah it's faster to find a bug than to refactor a whole codebase to fix it, they're still using llms to speed up fixing the bugs. If you believe them, anyway.

I do. Their software stacks were so shit and bloated and had many owners with different visions and understanding of what code does what and why and they rely on being closed source to survive penetration, I do believe llms are finding vulnerabilities left and right, and focused refactoring to address legacy human slop can take time, even for a super competent llm that does it correctly in one shot.

The status quo that you claim to not find ideal and don't think is relevant is what enabled the global trade you think is being threatened. The rules and norms imposed by the US by threat of force.

Oh no, the ship is charged $1 million to pass through the straight, how will global trade survive!?

I've seen estimates the fee would range from 1-5% of total ship cargo value on average. Hardly threatening global trade.

Repay them for all the war damages, remove all sanctions, give them their frozen assets back, and then ask them kindly to allow free passage through the straight again. But this whole we're gonna bomb you, kill your religious leader, kill hundreds of your children, destroy your civilian infrastructure, and we want you to go back to the deal that gives us an advantage doesn't work when they destroyed all your assets in the region, drained your munitions, and put on display your actual lack of power for all to see. Pay up, it's you're turn.

Right, despite starting this was with the expressed intention of collapsing their society, we can't have America not go back to the status quo of imposing sanctions on Iran while Iran spends money and resources every year for maritime upkeep so American trade can continue to pass through freely. We wouldn't want terrible precedents set.

Really old software had feature long time ago, new software has it now. Somebody 17 years from now is going to respond to post about multiple cursor support in nowaydudeland with "Wayland got had this in 2026"

And another person will respond "but we're not talking about Wayland..."

*does nothing

What do you propose he do then?

I propose he doesn't run on issues he never had intentions to deliver on. He shouldn't make promises he could never keep.

He was either woefully unprepared and didn't know that obviously he has no jurisdiction to arrest netanyahu under the ICC warrant, or he knew and lied. I don't think he's incompetent.

You may enjoy the short term benefits he brings domestically, but as an imperialist, he serves the ruling class like the rest of them. You can both celebrate wins and criticize flaws.

Stop worshipping politicians.
