I've been using Fedora (gnome) as my main distro for over 5 years and have zero issues with stability. Webcam, etc., all work by default with no problems. Would definitely recommend!

Disclaimer: not religious at all...but in all fairness to Pope Francis, he was a Jesuit, rejected living in the grand Papal apartment, and chose to live in a super simple 2 room apartment. The first pope to ever do so.
