I don't get why people don't just block the community for their account and be done with it. Why ask for it to be blocked for everyone on the instance?
Unless it's CSAM/similar content or an instance with major bots/troll problem I think the choice should be left to each user of the instance whether they want to see or block communities.
I have always found it odd that tech/IT is not more unionized and supervised by some sort of professional order.
Doctors, nurses, construction workers, airline pilots etc are all deemed important trades and professions that require some form of professional order to supervise and attest the competency of the labor.
But for some reason IT is all like "you watched some Youtube videos, got certified by Cisco 15 years ago? All set to configure the security of our healthcare network". I am exaggerating obviously but still... IT is so intertwined in everything some sort of professional order would make sense. And union definitely.

I agree, but despite all the shit AI waifu generators and the "let's shove it in everything just like we did with blockchain and metaverse" there are legitimate uses (medical, scientific) for AI I think where it has the potential to add value and improve life. AI in the current regulatory, financial, fiscal and moral landscape is a bunch of trouble waiting to happen.
That is why I think it's just rage baiting comparison to say "Your food uses more water than AI". It plays to the "we're replacing you with AI" sentiment.
The more nuanced message is that yes AI datacenters use a lot of water but still a lot less than meat production. I have read a while ago about how with AI they are looking to better target irrigation of crops to reduce the amount of water needed while giving the optimal amount of water for each plants. We'll see if it ends up being a net positive for water consumption vs the water used by the AI to do this...

Si tu t'arrange pour hébergé en mode kubernetes/openshift c'est facile à déplacer de provider (ou d'héberger dans ton propre centre de données) quand le fournisseur essaie de te faire monter les prix ou se retrouve sous un gouvernement louche.
Paying a contribution will not give me the feature I want or need from a project, most project explicitly say so. Paying for a LLM to create a PR or a fork that will contain that feature is often a lot easier and a pretty good guarantee I will get it.
I am not diving into the code quality or maintainability of such PR/forks which is a whole thing in itself.
It will depend on the material under the paint. Any particulate board you will probably want to replace. Wood can be dried, sanded and repainted depending on the depth of the damage.
But you will need to check the state of the material under the paint to know for sure.
Edit: looking closer at the picture it looks like melamine maybe? If that is the case you should replace it if possible.
I like to have them on esphome. In my case I have them as Bluetooth proxies and also use them with Bermuda BLE triangulation (in addition to the air quality stuff).
I have a Airgradient One (indoor) and a Airgradient Open air (outdoor) and love them. They are Esp boards with esphome configs available. They use readily available component that makes sensors easy to replace when they wear out or loose accuracy over time.
The whole project is open and you can buy the DIY kit and build it yourself or buy a prebuilt one.
I think people will find it harder and harder to find open source projects without AI coding in it.
AI (at least with recent models) can really be a time saver and a skill booster (up to a point), and open source projects are all about people giving their time away for free. You can boycott projects that use AI all you want, but will you be giving your time and do the work AI does for the project? I think that a lot of no-AI forks of existing projects will eventually die from lack of maintenance while the original AI assisted will continue to grow.
That being said, there is also a difference between a full bro-ai-vibe coded project from someone with little technical skill or knowledge ("Claude build me the next Facebook, secure, no bugs plz" ) and a more fleshed out project using AI to assist experienced developers.
This should probably be taken as "I am tired of supporting everyone who did not RTFM, too bad if you can't make it work" and is a totally reasonable thing to do, especially as the project gain more traction.
