Custom rom's have always been a luxury that was going to be temporary. I'm glad they exist now, but the real question is if Linux phones can get sufficient traction before Samsung and Google kill them off for good.
No. You don't need it at all. I actually have #Nodered running, but I don't use it for anything related to my #HomeAssistant setup. I only use it to forward certain emails to a #Matrix chatroom.
What specifically do you mean by "notifications about your projects"? Do you mean learning about latest releases by FOSS projects you're interested in? (I like RSS for this) Or are you talking about notifications such as UnifiedPush? Or something else?
I'm just as happy that you announced it here as I am for the actual release!

I never had restless leg syndrome, however I did have one teacher claiming that I was a literal genius, while another was recommending I be held back a grade in high school. Lol. Fun times.
I'm someone who wants to contribute to #KDE (mainly #design/#UX). My main challenges so far have been:
My availability is sporadic. I can't guarantee time every week, or even many weeks. I'm really only available for drive by contributions like the Tokodon icon I did when I just happened to see they needed one when I had a weekend off.
As someone with limited time, it's tricky to get up to speed re the technical and design specifications fast enough to contribute.
Any plan to stick the talks on the #KDE#Peertube account? Some stuff has been uploaded there, but it seems to be more random chunks of video (eg. 25 seconds just saying goodnight) rather than specific talks.

I would really love to see KDE Eco's power optimization efforts combine with Plasma Mobile's phone shell work so we can benefit both from longer battery life on #MobileLinux and at the same time get the environmental benefits, too!
Really glad you posted this photo. One of your other photos of this unfortunately cuts off the latter letters and makes it look like you have a sticker on your phone that just says "Run Jew"... which sounds more than a bit violent and anti-semetic. 👀
That aside, a #LinuxMobile phone with a cooling fan looks badass!
