This article really. It reads like its written by an edgy college kid. "Gotcha" takes in politics haven't done shit to stop Trump before and won't really do anything now. He has 30+ felonies and still won the presidency, and thats after a first term that was bad enough that he didn't win a consecutive term and after a failed insurrection.

Hot takes and reputational attacks won't win the dems anything. Dems have failed to be the working class party for decades now and until they stop resisting the candidates who are actually running on policies that support the working class and start changing their tune to be closer to FDR rather than Clinton, they will continue to fail.

People want actual things to happen, things that actually impact them and improve their life, the kind of shit Mamdani is doing in NYC. We are tired of the slander battles and talk. Ossoffs comments only ignite political tension, it doesn't feed children or make housing affordable.

Not that I think he had much in the way of empathy prior to this, but he lacks a filter of any kind which is a symptom I had to repeatedly apologize for when my grandfather's dementia got worse.

The dude has full on dementia, no one is doing anything and he will continue to degrade both himself and the reputation of anything associated with him as this keeps going.

Funnily enough, dipshit donny might be the best publically perceivable evidence of the need for reform we will ever get.

Most of these have been tried and we now have a new Gestapo rounding up minorities and letting them die in detention camps, while the rich bid on how they will redesign Gaza once the genocide is complete.

Nonviolent action has not stopped this regime, but one assassinated CEO has rippled changes in healthcare and made the epstein class scared. While I do advocate for nonviolence first, we are well beyond the point where violence isn't reciprocal

Meta employees not unionizing at this point is their own fault. Like I feel for you, this situation is shit and its getting worse, but thats the thing, it has only ever gotten worse. Do something about it, fight for your rights, fight for the people you are harming with the work you submit to, fight for a future that isn't dogshit run by a literal lizard person.

Your complaints don't mean shit to the current govt, you need to take your fate into your own hands. Meta dies without you, you hold the power. Do you think the dude who made that company to creep on women really has the skills and ability to do your work?

This goes for all tech. Stop complaining about your work if you aren't going to do anything about it. You are probably the only ones capable of saving enough money to survive a job loss in this country right now, stop licking boots and complaining about the flavor.

We live in a gatekept society. Bring the gates down

Realistically need a better solution for refunds, especially for indie devs. 2 hours just isn't enough time for shitty games to reveal themselves sometimes, but its also more time than some absolute gems take to beat.

People mentioned achievements, but thats unreliable as even I can spoof achievements on steam last I checked.

Valve can't be expected to manage every refund request thoroughly, and devs can't exactly be trusted to respect those requests if they were in charge of them being its literally losing money, but theres gotta be some way to reliably refund a customer without it being abused to harm an innocent dev.

GUI is definitely a big reason, but features as well. Epic could make their store snappy as hell and their GUI easier to use, but that doesn't give us controller remapping, game recording, an overlay with a web browser, per game notes, per game news, community guides, baked in mod support, performance data overlay, controller centric mode (big screen mode), and god knows theres more I'm missing.

Personally, I'd put my money on GOG becoming the real competitor over time. GoG Galaxy feels absolutely better than Epic does, and the fact it integrates other storefronts is such a major benefit that it makes it at least capable of competing with steam in the long haul. If GoG Galaxy gained all the features Playnite has, it would easily be able to compete with Steam.

Steam's "monopoly" is purely because none of their competitors bother with pro consumer updates.
