As someone who used the streaming plugins of the early '00s I'd say you're better off running your own media server. As others have said they always broke and you'd have no way of knowing if and when they'd be fixed.
I plan on rack mounting things on the second floor, but normally someone running in and ransacking a place isn't going to bother with a server, especially if it's loaded down with hard drives. Heck, my NAS is in a desktop case and I hate even having to turn it around 😹
Personally, after seeing inside industrial facilities I'd personally prefer to use something they're forced to classify differently. Yes, I know there's a level of acceptable puss in milk or bugs in food, but I'd rather play pretends that the person processing everything is also concerned that I might be ingesting whatever is in the canister. Some people don't like using tap water on their pasta and we humor them because it's going to get boiled anyway but it's their own personal use.
Remember that at one point Italians and Irish weren't considered white either. Trump always acts like he wants to take the US back to a certain period of time, but that's only loosely based off however he's feeling right now. At any point he'd be liable to say that certain white people aren't white and just get rid of them, but honestly, he's already talking about getting rid of Rosie O'Donnell who already left just because she talks bad about him. I believe to truly get an idea for it you need to imagine what life was like inside Nazi Germany. Media was heavily controlled and propaganda had its own department so indulging in things unrelated could be difficult depending on the source. The infrastructure is set up for cars, and then everyone has to drive their own car because we can't share a space respectfully. The only time I'd consider riding the bus is if I didn't have a car and if I had to for work. In the states the view towards public transportation is that if you depend on it you're not doing too well, which is sad. I commute 70 miles 1 way to work and would love to have a bullet train or something as an option. But as it is now, no, it's not even an option. I had a previous coworker that took 2 buses to work every day, and he was always telling me about the "interesting" people he'd run into on the bus, like a guy with a puppet at 7:00 in the morning, or the drivers that didn't know the schedule so they couldn't tell him when another bus would be coming. No thanks.
Again, there are big differences. It's going from minor corruption to full on why does anything matter talk. Why vote when elections don't matter? Why get a home when they can just take it away? The only thing keeping us human is consent. Again, that's all that matters. That's all that rights are.
It's the difference between thinking there's a tyrannical government and thinking the government is gonna leave you in a seedy motel bath tub full of ice. It doesn't seem like much but it's a pretty big gap.

Probably an unpopular reply, but I already have enough fear of organ harvesting. I don't need the government to one day decide that there are too many people on waiting lists so they're just gonna pull feeding tubes or some other drastic dystopian level shit they're probably really thinking about. Maybe kill off a few minorities or poor people or the handicapped while we're already ignoring body autonomy and basic human rights?

Only thing I've been told to be mindful of is that sodastream CO2 cartridges are food safe and a lot of the cheaper alternatives aren't.
