@helloyanis @games PS3 too! Our PS3 is pretty great.

Funnily enough, it can spoof its version so IT has no problem going online! We can even buy legit digital games on a hacked console.

(hey Sony, consider: if you lock hacked-console people out of buying games because you block them from PSN, they HAVE to pirate if they're not going physical)

@helloyanis @games YIKES, they must've been practically waiting for the GTA 6 announcement.

Welp, I guess we're never buying any playstation anything in the future. We've /already/ lost access to any digital games for our PS4 we don't already have downloaded, because we'd have to update the console to redownload them and that would make it unhackable. And like... the physical games is the literal ONLY REASON to go console for us. If there's no advantage to going console and we don't own our games anyway, and might get locked out of them at any time with a system update, why not just buy everything on Steam?

@TerrorBite @tech We have a CRT, which I'm not sure subpixel rendering even works well on at all (I think it uses subpixels, but they're not aligned with display signal output pixels). We also have a bog-standard 22" 1080p LCD, we'll need to find a cable for that and see what subpixel antialiasing looks like on that.

I did notice that when we were in the OS installer on our laptop (to back up the OS), the text looked weirdly sharp compared to normal; I bet that was subpixel antialiasing in action. So maybe it is still useful.

But I personally think the disadvantages in dealing with screenshots outweigh the advantages of maybe slightly sharper text. Grayscale antialiasing looks fine.
