I’m glad you cleared up being against his tariffs. What about his sexism?

So much going on in this comment. What does being a “real man” or a “menstruating woman” have to do with having courage in your convictions?

Maybe I’m missing subtle irony? I get it that this is traditional republican language. But this reads like an affirmation of these gender stereotypes.

I think there are better ways of illustrating republican cognitive dissonance than parroting it in your critique of them.

The realization that the purpose of our lives may be to discover the tactics of resistance that are not effective in hopes that those that come after survive long enough to find the ones that are effective

This is 100% correct.

Also don’t discount the economic system working as intended. If I get off the hamster wheel to “riot,” my family quickly loses basic necessities.

Once my best alternative to a negotiated resolution moves off that reality (meaning keep my head down and my family will get through this) more options become available. The system is designed to keep a critical majority on the wheel.

This is why there is a push to end fact checking on the internet. It’s not about a free press any longer. The internet briefly broke the capitalist stranglehold on the dissemination of information. Somewhere along the way the ruling class realized it was easier to break the internet rather than control it.

AI will train on unverified claims and further “flood the zone” so that it becomes increasingly difficult to know what is and isn’t. Eventually it won’t matter if someone “brings the receipts” to back up their claims because there will be support for every conclusion.

Local IRL community networks linked together through regional and national verified connections will be the only way to truly know what is going on. This becomes increasingly difficult to do as more and more waking hours need to be devoted to earning a wage to trade for basic necessities.

We are all waiting for the revolution not realizing we have been losing a war the whole time.

How do you know that the majority of people with Long COVID were vaccinated. This 2023 study says

Current studies suggest that covid-19 vaccines might have protective and therapeutic effects on long covid. More robust comparative observational studies and trials are needed, however, to clearly determine the effectiveness of vaccines in preventing and treating long covid.

100% agree with both points. The disconnect is the timeline each considers. As a father I am deeply empathic for the children that are not able to advocate for themselves and the immunocompromised that are basically left to be assaulted by other’s ignorance.

But longer term, think multigenerational, the higher death rates for the anti-vax crowd may be the correction that leads to better overall outcomes for humanity.

Not disputing any of this, but an article associated with Barry Weiss? Have any other legitimate sources that corroborate any of the opinion points? She doesn’t have the best rep. And that article made broad generalizations and associations.

For example, the headline implies that this was a position Biden held. However, Trump said he would do the same thing Trump Says He Would Block US Steel Acquisition by Nippon Steel

This Axios article at least makes the point that while all of the above may happen, it’s so complicated that the proof will be in whether jobs disappear or not.

The real headline is neither major political party cares about the working class and is pandering to the whims of those who hold power.
