You are expecting them to do the job you think they singed up for. They are doing the job they think they singed up for. What makes you think they are on your side or share your world views?
You keep making a dentist analogy. The problem with it is when you pay the dentist they work for you. When you pay your taxes the military works for the government. You are at odds with your government. Not a party. The entire government. Liberal Zionists Are Evil Shitbags CAITLIN JOHNSTONE The current fucked up reality we are in is a capitalist/western government creation. It’s not the fault of a single political party in one government in that system.
So assuming you are really calling for a physical overthrow of the current political order… my reason for not actively engaging in violence is it’s not bad enough for me yet. The only people who have come close to stepping up are either dead or in jail. Personally I am responsible for to many others that cannot take care of themselves to entertain any hero fantasies. My trip wire is when their wellbeing requires action on my part.
So instead I do what many people suggested in response to your comment. I train, I learn useful skills, I pass those on to my family, friends, neighbors. I don’t assume that some other group of people are going to magically come to my rescue because I pay taxes to a government that has been operating this way for its entire existence.
I appreciate the sentiment, but just to paraphrase what you just appear to have said…
I am waiting for a group of people that I was never a part of and know nothing about to come save me.
This mentality is one reason nothing has happened yet. It’s not quite so bad that you (or I) or a critical mass of anyone else feels the need to put our lives on the line to respond.
I guess my point is, as bad as it is now, it’s nowhere near as bad as it needs to be to make happen what you appear to have already written off.
If you are going to rely on someone else’s oath to protect your rights, they were never your rights to begin with. You read that as an oath to an ideal. Those in power read that as an oath to them. The people that took that oath currently feed themselves and thier families by allegiance to power. The system is working as intended.
Guess without any evidence based on the sparse information available…
federal plea + motion to dismiss state case on double jeopardy grounds. If successful, keeps his time federal and makes a possible future pardon less complicated?
I could see pardoning him grabbing a large number of votes based on his popularity?
“Actual leftists are taking over the dem party”
-is that because progressives backed dems no matter what or is it because they held out?
-currently taking over the party… are you a goldfish? How long is your memory? Whether these short term recent wins translate into a takeover remains to be seen.
-if you want the take over to continue continue taking every DNC candidate to the mat and when they try to use the DNC machine to manipulate outcomes punish them for it.
I do not agree that putting a DNC dem in power moves the system left. You need that assumption to make your position make sense. If that’s not true your argument falls apart. I believe it’s not true.
My final thought… I am clearly not part of your party. The two party system forces people who think other than red or blue to crawl into the husk of one of those positions to participate in the system. If we ever get to a point where we break the two party system it is likely that DEMs and the GOP are both the opposition for the left.
Snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in what battle? I am not in your far right vs center right fight.
I obviously can distinguish between the GOP and DNC (my comment said if things changed it would appear to be an improvement).
The reality of arguing that the left needs to compromise and embrace the “lesser evils” of the DNC in the face of the evils of the GOP is that it hands the GOP a cudgel. Don’t propose ideas that are too left or the right will lash out. Meanwhile, the right has been orchestrating a conservative backslide for decades.
I do enjoy a good personal attack when one side can’t formulate anything of substance to say. If it makes you feel better to call me morally bankrupt, you can have it.
The thing is, what passes for the left in America has been compromising its values for decades. That is the constant drum beat. And here we are. Explain, why more of the same will change course.
You are voting 3rd party in the primary but somehow fail to realize GOP and DNC are owned by the same interest. The illusion in the cave is that you think the DNC is left. (You call the DNC left of center above).
Voting to center right (DNC) when you want to be left of center will never shift American politics left. Trump is the boogeyman that gets you to abandon what you claim to stand for (progressivism).
MAGA co-opted the GOP by refusing to compromise. This shifted the GOP even further right. When progressives compromise the entire American political spectrum bell curve just shifts further right.
I understand that you think your approach will produce an immediate harm reduction. I am sure it will look that way, but the steady march to the right won’t stop if the left side of the spectrum caves while the right does not
The study surmised that autonomy, personal values, and the desire for freedom are some of the strongest predictors of a satisfying single life.
My take as a dad… prior to kids and marriage I had time to pursue hobbies and interests outside of work. Now, as the revenue generating cog the family machine, my time is extremely limited. Combine that with the fact that over the last 100 years the cost of living has risen faster than the average wage. This means the money maker in the family system barely has time for family interaction, not to mention personal time.
Under those conditions, to enjoy being a dad means you have to put your children’s happiness above your own all the time. If a person prioritizes “autonomy, personal values, and the desire for freedom” it’s going to be a bad fit.
I think this is what my own narcissist father meant when he told his three children “you weren’t worth it.”
As for the impending demographic problem… "Life, uh, finds a way.”

I admire your optimism. Out of curiosity, what was it that stopped you from leading the charge?
I don’t think they misunderstood. Refusing to engage with a question is a common tactic when you have nothing of substance to say.
Edit: spelling
Phew… as someone who makes a living as a contractor with NYC I was worried you had a credible source.
What’s your source for NYC being held up by the state or would be bankrupt?
Out of curiosity, how well is it going for you having not seized the means of production?
Nice app! Working well right out of the box. Losing focus was always my biggest issue with audio books.
Is there a way to tweak the text an audio sync? It’s off in some places (however I think this may be specific to my narrator’s speaking style)
Also, can the transcript be scrolled on the full screen? Currently when I pause most of the screen is the audio controls

Just guessing though
Be well comrade

How’d that primary strategy work out in 2024?

Have you ever considered the reason we are here is because you haven’t learned yet?

Consider whether it was left out for a reason.
