@Tujio@velma Truth! Neither Seattle teachers nor the teachers in my district have any desire to strike, but all we're getting from district admin is takebacks & micro-managing of time. We'd all much prefer to start school with a contract that isn't insulting (which is all district admin has brought forth in both districts), but trainings started this week, meetings next week, then school starts that following week & none of us have seen anything offered, so π€·ββοΈ.
@velma@seattle Guess I'm glad I have to go into school this weekend & work on getting my classroom ready to go before we end up on strike & are locked out of the building.
@specialseaweed@velma I WANT to be taxed to pay for libraries, parks, transit, schools, & for ALL kids to be fed free breakfast & lunch at school. I want millionaires & billionaires who inherited their wealth & assets and/or who take advantage of all that our working population provides to pay their fair share in the capital gains tax.
@velma@CombatWombat@seattle As a teacher in a Title school that had universal school meals, it just makes life easier for everyone.
BTW - Seattle SD also has issues staffing their kitchens/lunchrooms because they don't pay well & teachers are having to step in serve lunches without food handler cards.
@velma@Tujio@seattle Anyone that interested in the genitals of juveniles is a sick fuck. What is it with the wealthy & their obsession with other people's children?
@new_world_odor@CombatWombatEsq@seattle A friend who has been protesting for years downtown says she thinks SPD has been a little different in the last 3-4 months, not quite as asshole-ish & brutal as they have been. She's still encountering some of the usual rat bastards in SPD with small dick/big gun syndrome, but they seem more restrained, & her feeling is that things have toned down a bit. Not sure if others feel the same - that's just her impression - but it will def be interesting to π.

@velma I'm not in SPS, but their bargaining is going just as poorly as in my district, so it would not surprise me.

@tidderuuf @velma @seattle They had to euthanize the seal pup because it had bullet fragments in its brain.
@velma But the wealthy initiate & fund shit like this. The rest are just hateful followers.

@altphoto @seattle Ha! I had friends who went up to either Lynnwood or MLT to get on, just so they could be in a seat.
@kinther Agreed.
@kinther @seattle All they do these days is post crap from Jason rancid's MyNorthwest mouthpiece. π

@hildegarde @Rentlar @seattle The issue is that BNSF owns the tracks Sounder uses between Seattle & Tacoma & schedules freight trains on them. Amtrak has the same issue. If we had an additional set of tracks that were not BNSF, then we could have increased Sounder & Amtrak frequency.
