The personal notes on wiki state he was pretty decent and would "bend over backwards for anyone," the subsequent disputes don't seem overly dickish (aside from his passion for the legalization of gambling, but still not dickish, if anything applaudable for wanting to pay taxes instead of just going underground) compared to what a normal childless person in the 90s might do in their town. Do you have other source on the matter?

I don't care either way but your comment made me want to at least wiki the guy.

A triple crowner once told me the hardest of the three trails physically is by far the AT, but it is the easiest logistically. The easiest physically is the CDT but is the most dangerous because of the logistical difficulties. The PCT is the nice middle ground

Further, the reason there's so much coal in that Appalachians is because the trees that did finally come to existence, still didn't have proper decomposers, so the carbon just stayed there.

And for those that want to bring up the coal in england, the Appalachians technically stretch up thru Canada and Greenland and come down into the British isles.

Should the public be required to pass a test to vote too?

The reason we don't do that is because tests are famously easily rigged or biased. I've made exams before, I know when I'm asking a question not meant to be answered correctly. An age line is consistent. We have minimum age requirements for everything, a maximum age limit is a reasonable thing. Use social security's retirement age to set the bar. If you will be over 72½ by the time your term ends, no election for you. That's means a 70yo can run for office in the house, 68 for executive, 66 for senate, and 54 for the scotus (this imaginary world also has 18 year term limits for the justices on an every other year appointment cycle)

I also believe in a 4-3-2-1 term limit system, 4 terms in the house, 3 in the senate, 2 in the executive, and 1 in the judicial. That would max out anyone at the federal level at 52 years (if you got elected into the house right at 20½), which is more than enough time for a career and to subsequently fuck right off into obscurity.
