Yes, users can act completely idiotic. It still does not mean one company can have a chokehold on a massive industry stifling any competition as they see fit.

Had Apple acted by their own rules in the first place, they probably wouldn’t be under this much scrutiny by several governments.

You are almost in exactly the same boat as I am, the biggest bottleneck is consumer tech. I’ll definitely keep my iPhone, but have switched for all my subscriptions to European alternatives. (Pcloud for cloud storage, Surfshark for VPN) Installed Linux on my pc instead of Windows. Unfortunately, some services like Whatsapp are difficult to get rid off.

As bad as it sounds, if our European leaders can get their head out of their collective US-aligned asses, it could finally be a push to a more cohesive EU-defence policy that is not dependant on US logistics and firepower.

We have allowed ourselves to be way to complacent for far too long.

Take a break from social media/news if you can, I know it's not going to solve everything immediately but it might help. I was dealing with a bad streak, and I have quit most social media like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit or only use sanitised media like Lemmy.

There are a lot of good hearts in this world, unfortunately a lot of media are more likely to cover the rot.

Technology for new generations is really dumbed down, unless you want to learn and get into the weeds deliberately. Millennials know how to work around multiple operating systems and generally also learned how to troubleshoot (of course, there are a lot of millennials who aren't interested in tech as well). Zoomers will definitely have their own generation specific stuff they will know much better than any other generation.

I like to think every generation has it own knowledge and speciality, and bringing those together is when we as a species grow and advance.

Still can’t really see the appeal for these kind of phones, at least with the fold you can have a small tablet at your convenience.

Love the tech, but personally i’m not really convinced.
