Agreed. All this does is increase support for de-risking any idea of investing in China.

Although there are benefits of globalization, there should still be independent manufacturing and mining wherever possible. If China is struck by a large meteor in the future, or blocks all trade due to politics, the rest of the world should be ready.

I do wonder if this changes our understanding of redshift at astronmical distances and our calculation of the accelerating expansion of the universe?

Also,

Based on Einstein's theories and our observational data, time moves slower in massive objects. Can we assume the opposite? The further away things are from other masses, the faster time moves? I'm no physicist, but couldn't that explain why things are moving faster away from each other?
