Quality things can be mass-produced but you don't have to renew them as often and you quickly reach saturation of the market and thus your sales plumet.

I disagree, there is a lot of quality content in Shorts format. I stumbled on multiple creators via Shorts, such as GenericArtDad. I have basically no slop in my Shorts anymore, if I ever had.
I also don't find them to be such an annoyance when navigating, they are very fast to skip.
