Played the first one on PC and loved it. Then I bought it again on Switch and found that version nearly unplayable due to the extensive (and frequent) loading times. I hope that gets better this time.
It might be the film adaption that changes the most compared to the book, but I liked it as well. It‘s different, but still good.
Btw, the voice actor of Darktan, Aryon Bakare, is the narrator of the new The Amazing Maurice audiobook recording and he does a great job at that.
