The definition of an e-bike limits it to, at most, 28MPH. If they have a throttle they are limited to 20MPH. Faster than that generally requires registration as a motor vehicle. If an e-bike is doing 35 then it has been modified and is operating outside legal limits. That's not a "loophole", it's a crime. Quit spreading misinformation.
I'm with you on the need to participate in mutual aid, and I even agree that people get too bound up in purist ideologies that blind them to what's important. However, we shouldn't be spending all our time trying to patch all the harm done by a broken system without ever addressing the system itself.
This is giving me flashbacks to when I got banned from r/CapitalConsequences for arguing that the Democratic party establishment was too weak to ever put Republican leadership in prison, that their weakness would lead to an even worse president than Trump, and that a bunch of the J6 convictions would get pardoned. The only things I got wong were that Trump would be that President, and that he would pardon all of them.
Both are exceedingly unlikely. I can see Trump dropping a bomb ling before Israel. Not that Israel isn't malicious enough to do it, but they know they couldn't handle the reprisals. Trump is truly that dumb though.
Russia wouldn't follow suit for similar reasons to Israel. The threat of nuclear weapons is far more useful to them than actually deploying one. They have put a lot of effort into slowly ramping up "accidental" incursions on NATO to push back the threshold for invoking article 5. Using a nuke would be guaranteed to blow right past that threshold. The cover from Israel or the US having used one in Iran might matter in the history books, but not to NATO.

The early Leafs were also particularly bad because the batteries were passively air cooled. We knew it was a gamble, but they were also really cheap. Still, I think we got 60k miles on top of the 20k it already had when we got it. The new battery hasn't lost any appreciable range in the 4 years since it was replaced.

If progressives were dominant in the Democratic party, there is no way Schumer and Jeffries would be running the show in Congress. The ability of a handful of freshmen progressives to replace either with a left leaning Democrat is non-existent, and that's assuming they win the general.
Even if progressives dominated the elected offices, that wouldn't make them "the establishment". The term means something, and it's not "the DNC". The establishment is the entire structure of influence behind the party, including not only politicians, but donors, consultants, and the oligarch owned media.
Progressives have made a lot of progress, but we have much further left to go. We could lose almost all the progress we have made if we don't outperform the establishment candidates by a wide margin in the general. The "electability" argument has always been the establishment's best weapon against progressives, and it's absolutely critical that we use this election to prove it wrong.

Despite the rhetoric from the establishment, exit polls show that progressives have been remarkably consistent in showing up to vote for shitty establishment candidates. What they won't do is donate to their campaigns, or volunteer their time, effort, and expertise. Nobody wants to knock on doors for a candidate they can barely stomach voting for.
There will always be an enthusiasm vacuum for establishment candidates, and that matters. That is a big part of why the DNC is already $2million in debt going into this election, despite the expectation of a blue wave.
I'm reminded of the bazillion times that Putin has hinted at threats to use nukes against Ukraine. I guess Trump saw how weak it made Putin sound, and decided it was just what he wanted for the US. What a stupid timeline we are in.
I've been driving used EVs for almost 20 years now, and it's been great cheap transportation. We did get hit with around an unexpected $8k battery replacement on a Nissan Leaf, but it was still cheaper in the long run than a new electric or a used ICE.

The levels of disinformation coming out of Russia and China are very different than in the west. In the west, governments tend to try and justify their atrocities, not hide the fact that they ever happened. Even when Western governments do try to deny that something happened, it never seems to work very well. Either journalists get a hold of it, or an opposing faction takes control and releases the information.
Americans who are ignorant of American atrocities have actively chosen ignorance. That's not true in China or Russia, and it's definitely not true in North Korea. There is certainly a movement to try and make America that way though.
