I remember watching a video about this topic (sources in the description). The tl;dw of it is:
The content isn't the (main) problem. Its the format. The infinite scroll + short form content teaches you to be impatient. You could watch a montage of cat vids that cuts every 10 seconds and be fine. But have a tiktok style feed of the same content; having to swipe to see the next thing. You'll preform worse in cognitive heavy tasks.
Obviously its more nuanced than just this but yea.
I mean, they also were developing usernames five years ago AFAIK. Adding usernames for everyone was the hard, but necessary step they finally managed to do. Only now is it possible to make accounts that are discoverable AND aren't tethered to phone numbers. I'm assuming with passkeys/TOTP(?)
Sorry I realised I misread your post. It's strange your keybinds on Linux to change tabs are alt+num? For me, its Ctrl+num... and i think this is the default. The most likely reason is either:
A setting or issue with your desktop environment/keyboard layout
A keybind remapper you might've installed.
An extension you installed on Firefox
check if the alt/ctrl switch persists outside Firefox.
If it doesnt work, your best option is to either find another extension that does. or bite the bullet and configure a key remapper like keyd and make a "layer" to toggle the bind alt+(num) to ctrl+(num).
probably "OLARPY". a play on words with:
"omarchy": the distro criticised for just being arch linux with someones dotfiles
"larp": stands for Live Action Role Playing. Usually used to mean a poser or someone pretending/convinced they are something they're not.

Try this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ctrl-number-to-switch-tabs/
