If you need confirmation of species, I suggest contacting some east coast resident experts: Dr Tobias Smith or Dr Tim Heard. I've crossed paths with them both a few times at ANBA events and they know their stuff. I can provide contact details for them if Google comes up short.

Hmmmm:

From 1 March 2029, only e-bikes meeting the European standard will be road legal in NSW, with the three-year period reflecting the typical lifespan of an e-bike, providing those who purchased an e-bike legally- and those who sell them- time to adjust to the new rules.

I dunno what these people are doing to get only 3 years out of a bike.

"Australian Defence Force full-time personnel levels have had their biggest single-year increase in 15 years.

The government attributes the success to targeted career advertising on social media and in online games."

Headline is a bit misleading, should really have had "Advertising in" at the start.

Moved to Brisbane from San Francisco in 2004, have used used Grace with no issues. Sold most big stuff before the move and replaced it here and was mostly happy with that as it took so long for the container to arrive. We stored our stuff in California as the place we were in there was sold out from under us while we waited for our visas. It may have arrived earlier if it had been shipped directly.

Public school all the way, but have had some challenges with 1 or 2 schools, mostly not the school's fault but the kids at the school. Private school for three kids would have financed a few houses.

I miss Mexican/TexMex but at least the ingredients plus recipes on YouTube are much more accessible than 20 years ago. You may miss the version of "Chinese" food from the US as the interpretation here also tends to be a bit different.

Houses, not even going to go there. An untimely divorce has ensured I'll never own one, despite being well above median pay.

I cashed out my 401k when I moved, not sure how you handle it if these days or if your balance is higher. I didn't have to deal with US income tax post move as I'm originally Canadian, but a cousin with US citizenship had to settle a rather large bill with the IRS, followed by denouncing citizenship.

Be warned that Brisbane salaries have a bit of catching up still to do. If you can get an employer that pays the same for Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane you'll be 20-30% better off. Pay here is also often quoted including superannuation, so make sure HR isn't slipping one past you.

Hmm. We do pay income tax on the money made at the other end of the commute. The excises as proposed were a very small percentage of the tax that I already pay, were I to commute by an electric car (I use a different EV, of the two wheeled kind). I'd propose that the issue here is that government revenues come from so many random sources that it's almost impossible to balance that against an individual's usage of any government service or utility. Should I be paying more tax because I pay child support and therefore use more of that department's time? Should people who have kids pay more because the kids are in school?

Also worth noting, as the instrument is on the ISS, it's ground coverage will be limited to +-53 degrees or so. Much of my birth province of Alberta in Canada will escape scrutiny from this, including the oil sands projects. Hopefully a successor to this ends up in a polar orbiting mission.

Now that I've had a look, it's still very preliminary and a very limited dataset. It will be interesting to keep an eye on this for further data releases.
