In two years they'll argue it's too run-down to restore. They'll tear it down right before the elections, if we have them. If they win again it'll be rebuilt as the Trump Center. If they lose, they'll have pissed off the liberals anyway
This is such a wild disconnect, it's truly mind-blowing. Piker's reaction is pretty much what I'd expect. We all know how far gone these people are, that they live in this weird archaic unreality bubble. They didn't think this through, they sincerely thought this would be embarrassing for him. The right wing gerontocracy is so out of touch, its like they're from another planet
This has been fascinating and all, and I'm glad that psychology is having a big moment and whatever, but like, I'm kind of over this whole... "watch the narcissist slowly deteriorate" thing
I'm ready for the "post-mortem on this guy's career" phase where we all collectively wander around in a daze for a while
Finally got around to The Empty Man. Bit of a hodgepodge. I liked elements. It could have used some trimming. Some really interesting cosmic horror concepts that didn't coalesce into a satisfying experience overall.
Not strictly a "daily" task but it's a routine, mundane one; calling in sick. I have to speak directly to a manager and although I do not need to cite a reason, my childhood taught me to feel guilty about needing time for myself. The "daily-est" one that makes me anxious is brushing and flossing my teeth. When I was younger I didn't take care of them and my gums bled and hurt a lot. My teeth still generally give me a huge amount of anxiety despite turning all that around over a decade ago.
It doesn't say how old those individuals were, just that they were "residents". Not that it matters much. But it implies to me that they were not children, suffering at the hands of the recently ignorant. Might be too far to speculate on my part, but it makes me remember that the anti-vax movement is now a 20-30 year phenomenon that has picked up enough steam to become a huge problem and is now catching up with us. Outbreaks will only become more common, deaths from preventable diseases are now stupidly inevitable.
This is exactly it. He's hoping to brand as much as he can while he's alive. The Kennedy center was a huge blow to his ego. He'll use the board to gild the whole thing so it'll cost millions to undo.
As a child, an easy listening radio station soothed me to sleep. It kept the monsters at bay. I would not unpack nor understand the psychological abuse I suffered at home for decades. The song now reminds me that a late bloomer can still be beautiful. Crushes me to death every time.
It's the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
Fun fact, the woman who wrote this song, Amanda McBroom, also played JAG Capt. Phillipa Louvois in the incredible Star Trek: TNG episode Measure of a Man
In a video initially shared on X by outgoing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the 80-year-old president could be seen walking down a few steps as he left the stage of an event on Long Island on Friday.
Every day I wake up and surprise myself with how unbelievably resilient I have become
A childhood of constant trauma and stress has prepared me for exactly this

The guy who keeps telling us he's totally not ever been anti-vax
He's gonna tear it down. The replacement will have his name on it.
This is why you need a pocketoctopus protector
I would be so proud 🖤
I mean heck we're all excited for his big day

This is a deeply broken person. It's all performative. She's terrified of shadows and ideas

I remember who I am. Not a fucking Nazi

Whatever it is, must be quite shocking

Quite literally
Think she knew what she was doing?
