I want that friction. I want to have to explore to find stuff. I don't want to just be chasing markers on a map. I don't currently have any constraints on my time, so randomly swimming to an island to see if there's anything there is part of the charm.

On the flip side, I totally get if you only have a few hours a week to play, and don't want to waste it doing shit that doesn't pay off.

I've played about 8 hours of resynced. The game is good. I replayed the original last year, and everything looks and feels better.

While there is a cash shop now, I'm pretty sure the original had that stupid animus store where you could spend cash to buy credits to buy stuff. Personally, I'd rather they just put a price on it. I can't even really fault them for putting the time saver shit in for an extra cost. If you only have a limited amount of time available to play paying a few bucks to reduce the friction and make it more fun can be worth it. I'd be upset if it was included by default. I want to go follow the wind and see what adventures I find.

My only complaints so far are that a bunch of shit that looks climeable isn't, and the ship upgrades are really locked behind story. I want to pillage now.

In Albania if a dish has black pepper it's labeled spicy. I picked up a jar of tikka sauce that had 3 peppers on it, was labeled medium, and it was sweet. Absolutely 0 spice.

So they can underpay you. If you go through 5 rounds of interviews, you're way more likely to accept a shitty salary so you haven't wasted that time.

Every company that I've interviewed with that's refused to talk salary has been offering ludicrously low pay. Always ask salary in the "do you have any questions" part of round one. If the interviewer says something like "we don't discuss salary in the first round" you are now in a hostile negotiation. Increase whatever you thought the position should pay by at least 50% and say "I need to be in this range (min + 50% to min + 100%) to continue with this interview. Are we in the same ballpark?" They'll generally give you a "oh, our range tops out at $" If it's above your min, say "depending on the total compensation package, I can make that work. What are the next steps." If they still won't tell you, or it's below your minimum, thank them for their time and end the interview.

I don't know how many interviews I've bailed from because I did this. Places in Silicon Valley advertising for something like "senior Devops engineer" and trying to pay $25-50/hr.
