While I agree with most of what you said, the stories about Arab countries have some truth to them. I guess those who say that those placrs are safe for women come from an upper-middle class background who go there as professionals or tourists. But for women who come from poorer countries and go to work there as maids, they know the risks of being abused or killed.
I do wholeheartedly agree that more Americans should explore the world (or their own states) to expose themselves to different perspectives and norms.
I'm wondering how you can possibly find yourself writing that China is worse...
i didnt. i didnt write that China is the worse evil? have it occured to you that they are equally evil to us who have been invaded by these nations?
i acknowledge that we also have problems with the US. our history is riddled with that. we also have been victims of abuses from Japan during the war, which they dont recognize. in the present, many of our problems from the outside come from China. like the countless lives lost because of their drug syndicates here.
or are you saying that the dead Filipinos are less important because not as many have died compared to Gaza? because to me, both are unfortunate.
thats why i cant think of China as the lesser evil. yes, even counting all the astrocities of the western world that you pointed out. because China is as evil as them.
just because i dont think agree that China is the lesser evil does not mean that i am pro US. that is such a narrow-minded take.
when we experience their abuses firsthand, what should have we heard? they make people work against their will in the illegal gambling centers and online scamming sites they operate, kill our wildlife by the boatloads by importing our protected species for their medicine, or are the biggest drug lords in the country resulting to the deaths of many, what should have we heard?
i acknowledge that the Ph has problematic ties with the US for decades. but at the present, the Chinese government and Chinese criminal organizations are giving us more problems.

what do you mean by your question?

cant think of China as the lesser evil when they keep harassing Philippine vessels in Philippine waters.

it is sad. and also weird theyre offended for something not directed to them. the person who was being replied to was not offended in the least.
@Gullible@sh.itjust.works
thats part of the joke, which i found funny. exhausting how something witty devolved into this. dont understand where the anger is coming from.
@Gullible@sh.itjust.works
the set up and punchline worked, i think. maybe people are just sensitive to ribbing that involves mild insult about lack of education.
@TheDoozer@lemmy.world
youre kind for providing the explanation. been laughing my head off over this conversation.
Additional suggestions for pc/laptop
ffmpeg for audio and video
pdftk for pdf
Used these for simple tasks, eg cropping/converting movie formats, taking out/combining pdf pages. Both are fast and light and havent failed (so far).
