I get where you stand hating on Jolla, and looking into it it really is a "say this, do that" company, but as a backer, I see value in it's position. Marketing material aside if you take it as a middleground between Android with it's problems and linux phone with it's it gives a solid proposition. It is more mature in UI department that Ubuntu Touch or Phosh (imho) with lots of native apps that look like a part of the OS. It is also made in EU, that much is clear and well company does listen and interact with comunity (official forun/ irc chat/ matrix) and contributions are open. Right now they are slowly open sourcing the window manager, which leaves their Android app translation layer. As you said you should not market foss if it is not 100% foss, but man to be honest my linux pc is not 100℅ foss either (drivers/programs) but I'm using linux to be able to watch what even yhe closed source programs do in full as I'm in controll. Jolla Phones can do all the same, as can any linux phone that wants to position itself like that. Lastly when I was in a market for a linux phone (end of 2025) there was Pine which sells underpowered toy of a phone, Volla which sells either 2017 design phone at todays price or our of my price range options and FairPhone 6 was still unsuported well by any linux phone distro (which you have changed, god bless you). I wanted a new in look and feel phone that felt like it was made in 2025 without braking my bank and having good linux support to continue my degoogle journey. Jolla was the best option at the time and I have no regrets backing it.
Hope you understand why Jolla Phone* is so big and some reasons why people follow them. It is a stepping stone for people who want to go linux but at a pace that will not leave them in the dust. If you still can't change your opinion let's just agree to disagree.
Thanks for taking your time reding trough it. I didn't know Tempus was a fork, but that makes much more sense. Regarding opeing a github issue I prefer to not interact with GitHub out of personal beliefs, but if you have a mirror on Codeberg or GitLab I would love to contribute!
you need to scroll all the way to the top of the song queue to swipe down, and back button closes the queue AND player. I found out you can pull fown if you pull over the drop shaped "+" button which is not obvious at all, and it still sometimes closes the player too.
in Home in the corner there is a three button overflow menu icon, but when pressed only option is settings. Why not just make it a gear icon to begin with?
same thing with build-in equalizer when in player
why does sleep timer has to have 7 presets + end of song + custom? I belive 3 presets + end of song + custom is more than enough. I mean how much time are we saving here?
in downloads option for changing view type from artist/album/track.. uses a filter icon even though it is not doing any filtering. Sort would also be nice for most recent, but that is more of a feature request

This is more personilized now but UI looks dated. Before switching to Subsonic I used a client called InnerTune and may be controversial but in terms of looks Tempus for me is clearly a downgrade, and so do say my friends I showed it to.
Now I listed just the UI stuff I dislike, excluding what I like. Hope this clears it out. :3
Still, my biggest problem in this app is UI. I really hope some nice UX changes come around soon seeing as functionality side is so advanced in comparison. Still I thank thr devs for all the love and work they put in it!
as a teen doing homelab I can say it is great learning and fun while still being quite easy and with the benefit of being independent of big tech, saving on subscriptions. Also I can brag about how homelab is great to my friends :3.

as I get older I use search engines less and less since I alredy know the website I want to use and just tipe in URL directly, but when I do need to search some term I tend to use qwant since it is european and private. It tends to be less cencored in my expirience.

I knew somewhere I heard Libstick is not fully FOSS and today, while checking regular Jolla Harbour News they said
Now saying "open source parts" kinda implies it is not fully open source. That is at least my reasoning.
