First off, we're talking about operating systems and not websites.
Second, if it's open source, the users can just edit out the age verification, no matter how it's implemented. And if it's open source, you simply can't prevent that behavior.
In theory, the closed source systems make that more complicated, to the point where we can "rely" on those safeguards.
There's a logic here, even if I totally disagree with the premise of the OS needing anything to do with the user's age. Parents need to parent and we've had solid enough parental controls for a long time now that make this type of monitoring and control easy.
Originally, I thought "meta" came from Mac land, and was the curlicue that they get instead of the windows button on many PC keyboards.
I've also often seen a quip that emacs stands for "Escape Meta Alt Control Shift" - I'm a vim user, so I never thought too hard about this, but emacs definitely refers to the Alt key as "Meta", which makes that a contradiction in terms.
I guess all the nomenclature is just made up and nothing matters...
I see a lot of people misunderstand these licenses as binding for the original copyright holder/author, when they're allowed to dual license, or take the project private. They just can't remove the license from any code already released.
I use mine to cook dog food every week (poor guy is allergic to damn near everything). Often cooks a couple family meals during the week, too. Great labor saver

No doubt that's why they used such a goofy metric. It's triple that of a selected 650 million.
Infuriating that they'd use such a uselessly vague and annoyingly unverifiable metric for the headline, but that feels standard for rhetoric.
