I'm reading the 4th book that just dropped in Adrian Tchaikovsky's excellent Children of Time series. Definitely recommended if you want some scifi reading.
Castlevania 64. Not even Legacy of Darkness, the original one. It gets a lot of hate I think just because the rest of the series has such awesome games and it gets held to a high standard but just as a N64 game I loved it.
I've used it in the past and its awesome. It works very well even on ancient hardware and is a fully functioning OS even if you never install it and just run it in live mode. Its basically a computer you can keep on your keychain and run on anything.
I started with Ubuntu and then Mint, I don't think the system files being modifiable is a huge issue, I don't think many noobs are really doing much to mess with them. If you're just looking for something that does your basic everyday things then its just installing the OS and then putting your apps on there.
I am still midway through the last book so not quite done yet, but so far absolutely amazing series. If you liked the Netflix Castlevania show its got kind of simmilar vibes.
Empire of the Dawn, the third book in the Empire of the Vampire series that just recently dropped. Which I am quite digging, a big epic fantasy series about vampires that is really engaging and well written.
I was not thrilled with Cosmic after upgrading Pop! but switching DEs on Linux is very easy so it wasn't a huge issue. I think Cosmic could be cool given more development, it just needs time. Though Pop! making it their default seems like a bad idea for them, its one of the beginner friendly distros that always gets recommended to new Linux users and now that's going to be their first impression.
Originally I switched just because I didn't have a Windows install available and Linux was convenient enough to just download and stick on there. But then once I got used to using it I massively preferred it. I'm the opposite of what you're describing, I don't want "problem solving and tinkering", I like Linux because it basically just does what I want it to do. Windows does what Microsoft wants it to do lol.
They're a great band! Like you said, they don't have a set style, they seem like they like experimenting around and end up making awesome things.

This is one of those albums I always go back to. 👍 👍
The rain with the dramatic music at the beginning of Link to the Past is pretty awesome too.
I think they were mostly Jim Lee trying to update the old school 60s uniforms for the 90s. I kind of like how they look.

I'm in the same boat, I loved the book series but never got into the show. But yeah, excellent series, I was sad to be finished with it.
I loved JS&MN, and thought this was a cool addition to it.
Huge Moebius fan here, he's one of my favorite artists comic or otherwise.

Its probably my favorite scifi series of all time. I recommend it to everyone (unless they're creeped out by spiders).

Mine makes noises like "Its-a me, Mario!"

Yeah the map part is separate, it also just gives stats as numbers and graphs. It would probably be good for biking and walking.
OpenTracks works for running and includes maps

Ursula LeGuin and Robin Hobb are 2 of my all time faves.
