Why don't they at least send them to meat processing facilities? Even if it's lower quality meat you could probably sell it for cheaper or use it in pet food. Also where ere they getting that many new chickens in? Wouldn't it cause a significant shortage if something like bird flu hit the source? Also if they really are worried about a 3 week dip, couldn't you minimize that by time it so that only some of the hens weren't producing. It just seems incredibly wasteful.
Edibles and tinctures are a thing. I have very severe asthma and will either get a really nasty flare up or go into a full attack with just one whiff, but I'm able to use both without issue.
I actually brought it up, and they said that people would just lose those too. Then they said that the only way going forwards was still an ios or android app. They said if it dies then it's my fault and that I'll just be locked out.
My apartment building has app operated entrances, and I was completely reliant on someone else with a working phone to let me in multiple times. They said they got rid of standard fobs because of people apparently lose them often, but it have never once lost mine, yet I've had two phones kick the bucket on me, multiple times where my battery died, and a few times where it got softbricked after a failed update. Just this week I had the app reset itself after an overhaul, making me go through the setup process again while standing outside in a heatwave. Given that I'm especially heat sensitive, I'm surprised I didn't pass out.
I basically do that when baking bread, but I also know that the result isn't going to be ideal. Basically I'm trying to experiment to get a good multigrain bread that's packed with extra fiber, but at the same time doesn't use hard to get or very expensive items. Each time I get closer to perfecting the recipe, and learn something new about baking in general. Worst case, I eat the parts that still turn out OK, and feed the rest to the birds.

You could always get a pair of xr glasses like the viture luma and plug them into something like an orange pi or Linux phone. I would not try daisy chaining adapters to plug it into a raspberry pi though, learned the hard way that if one of the cable starts wiggling it will cause static and shutting on and off. Also DO NOT forget to tape the camera if there is one so people don't think you're a creep.
SteamOS is easy to deal with if you stick to using Flatpak. I found out the hard way when installing yay that since their packages are a little behind, it wouldn't compile. The problem was either pacman or one of it's dependencies was out of date according to makepkg. So I tried to update them manually and broke the whole system. Plus SteamOS overrides changes to the root filesystem when it updates, which undos all my hard work tweaking the system, which I find infuriating.
I found Arch Linux to be less maintenance that Debian/Ubuntu, but then again I need to tweak every aspect of my system and both Debian and Ubuntu keep getting in my way. For example Firefox now requires snap on Ubuntu systems, and Debian requires that I maintain my own version of Pipewire if I want decent sound on my earbuds. Also Apt/dpkg does seem to break a lot.
I also had issues with Manjaro and SteamOS due to system packages being a version or two behind vanilla Arch, which breaks things when you install AUR packages. That being said I have used both Garuda Linux and CachyOS and I've liked both. They get that balance between not requiring that I setup everything myself, while not getting in my way when I want to tinker.
We need to prevent abuse of this tech, but it should not come at the cost of disabled people. Some ideas I have that could balance this out;
Full control of these devices must be in the hands of the user. For example the source code should be open so it could be audited and the user must be allowed to change the os.
Any data that these glasses gather for the purpose of accessibility needs to be protected under hippa and similar laws. This should also extend to other things like biometrics and health data in general. There is no legitimate need for ad companies to have this data, regardless of source.
LED indicators must be prominent, and the camera needs a physical cover for when not in use. These measures should also be mandated by law.
It should be illegal to show unskippable ads or to prevent the use of adblockers. One, these devices are right next to the eye, so flashy ads could more easily induce seizures and migraines in some people. Two, disabled people shouldn't have to have ads shoved in the very devices that allow them to interact with the world. Doing so is a form of profiteering off of disability.
We need to not only have very strong anti stalking laws, but we need to be addressing rape culture in general. Technical and legal measures are great, but without cultural change, they will only ever be bandaids. I don't have all the answers to this one, but it needs to be at the front of our minds whenever we make laws to address it, or create new tech that could exasperate it.
If you have more ideas please share, we need to be looking for solutions to this rather than excusing stalkers, or vilifying disabled people.

I'm setting up a viture luma to do something like this as well as have a HUD like interface for task tracking, like you'd have in video games. That said I'm taping the camera looking thing and I'm just going to use my phone when I need to take pictures or video. I'm setting it up where I could just transfer needed data directly whenever possible to avoid needing to use my phone camera. Most likely if i do use photos, it will be more of a photo journal than recording everything I see. This is mostly to try to keep others comfort and privacy in mind even though it would be stored locally on a raspberry pi.

While true giants aren't real, there is the condition of gigantism, which causes multiple health issues due to the strain of being so big.

This is why smart home devices need to not rely on external servers. Ideally it shouldn't even need to be connecting at all.
