As someone who is not a fan of this decorating style, I came across the term “Millenial Grey” it’s a fun thing to read up on to get a handle on why this seems to be the prevailing decorating style. I dislike that it is another thing being put at the feet of an already put upon generation when the reality is, it’s economically more viable to corporate interests and the algorithm.
The quintessential goth metal album. Their layers of sound, Pete’s incredible ability to make the most sardonic lyrics sound romantic and the bands utter control of melodic harmony make it an album that I have listened to an innumerable amount of times since its release.
There really is something special here than no band since has captured on tape. It came out when I was a sophomore and immediately became something that I knew would be with me my entire life.
This album bleeds sensuality with a not so subtle wink and nod to the ridiculousness of the human condition in a way few, if any before or after it ever have. It is equal parts sexy and hilarious. Type O was a band whose depth was often missed by the outlandish nature of who their frontman Peter Steele was. A man capable of being a sulking giant with a broken heart one second and a sexy rock and roll god doing a centerfold photoshoot for Playgirl the next.
I never stopped loving this band for that perfect mixture of mischief, tongue in cheek self awareness and Gen X melancholy they brought to everything they did. There are great albums by them before this one and great ones after. But October Rust stands as a truly unique album without peer in my heart for all time.
This is a pure slab of American Black Metal by way of a multi-instrumentalist that grew up on 90’s alternative, particularly Tool. It bridges the gap between two eras of metal so effortlessly it boggles the mind at times. Erik Wunder played all the instruments and was the primary songwriter on this album and it is so complete in a way that can only be achieved through that singular of a vision. It’s like a dark mirror version of the first Foo Fighters record in a myriad of ways. He sadly passed away last year and was only able to perform these song live a few times in the decade and half since its release. I was lucky enough to catch two of those performances and they were as beautiful as I had hoped.
His passing hit like a brick as I was able to talk quite a bit with him on Facebook in during the early years of the band and spend some time in person when they played near me. He was always very gracious and intelligent in person. He had that specific blend of honesty and intelligence that separates the good from the great in music. I often wonder what could have become of the band if he had been able to find more stable vocalists and the ability to create while sober. It’s a real bummer we will never know.
This is one of those albums that came at exactly the right time in my life to become an encapsulation of moments of darkness and hope being perfectly intertwined. It gave me a place to put my sadness, my longing, my fears and my dreams while I sorted out who I would be for the second half of life on this planet.
There are moments of spite that feel so real you can almost feel the tension in the rooms that inspired it. Then there are moments of such soulful beauty and longing you can’t help but get lost in thoughts of heartbreak right along with the band.
I truly believe Josh Homme wrote his opus here. It’s the perfect Queens album and, in my opinion, the greatest rock and roll album of all time.

I had one of these in a build with a mobo that supported Crossfire x4 (ATI’s implementation of SLi at the time). Fast forward a few years later and I’m on a different build and so are all the guys in my lan group. One of them mentions throwing theirs up on Craigslist to make a little cash. I offer him $50 so I can mess with crossfire. Turns out there’s a few other 4850’s I can swoop up on the cheap and for the fun of a 4x crossfire mess.
Man… that didn’t do shit but generate needless heat and run everything worse than a single card. But I did manage to try a 4x GPU’s build and we had a good laugh running stuff like Crysis on it with an old Phenom 3 at the next lan.
As someone playing a copy borrowed form a library, I’m in for a good deal. Haha.
Also, I like hidden mechanics. Especially when they’re surfaced through conversation instead of gamefaqs. This one has made me miss the old bloodborne subreddit a little less. Thank you friend!

Sounds like I need to read up on affinity as well. I just got the house in Vernworth (after a rather messy arrest that took half my gold) awesome to hear that there’s other dynamics and systems around that.
They really have built something that feels as well engineered as a souls game without the punishing difficulty. I’m trying to ascertain weak spots on the various big monsters now. As a Monster Hunter fan, it’s cool seeing that type of mechanic in another Capcom game!
And yeah, they released a trailer at Summer Game Fest for a Dark Arisen expansion coming in October of this year. Looks pretty neat. I might be able to purchase a copy of this by then and jump in to that.
Is this something that can be missed during a regular play through? I’d hate to spoil it searching. If you don’t mind, can you let me know if I’m safe to search “dragons dogma 2 secret ending” or is it something that happens if I complete all quests or something similar if that’s not a safe search?
Thanks friend! I put a few more hours in last night and had my first hired pawn show up again 20 levels stronger. Added them to the party again and it has been really cool how the character evolved and comments on being back with the crew. Little touches like that keep me hooked.
Adding to that thought, you used to also have grandparents and elder family members who had the time and inclination to help out. This was especially true for those of us who were born to boomers. But now those people of that same age are having to work as things like greeters at Walmart just to be able to pay their own bills. So they don’t have the leisure time anymore to assist with raising grandchildren.

Was able to get Dragons Dogma 2 from my library last week and boy is it fun. Probably 20 hours in so far and really enjoying the systems and world.
Pretty darn solid game. I’d second this recommendation for Skyrim fans.

It really is. The cast has fantastic chemistry and feels like real people despite the heightened ridiculousness of the premise.
It’s pretty good too! Low impact, great cast and decent story that takes place in world but not as a reboot or anything cheese like that.
