- go: just everything you need to create, test, fuzz, run, update, inspect, build a Go program. I rarely encountered everything all at once without having to add 3rd party
- docker: whenever I need to test something in isolation by lack of trust or not wanting to pollute my environment (I'm looking at you node) or even run services on my machine while abstracting the fs/network/conflict, etc.

I take the distance in the rule more like game mechanics.
If we take the description of the magic in the FR, I would say distance depends on the density of the threads of the weave, the dead magic area, etc. So not very dependable.
On the wish spell, I could agree though, that you could get more accurate info via this.
