First of all, I like rust+tui stack and thanks to sharing to community, but I hate to see open source dev wasting valuable time on reinventing wheel on something constantly change. YouTube's api, webpage constantly change to prevent third party sw. While we have invidious which can be use as backend, why ppl want to waste their time and abandon project quick? Freetube can use invidious api as source for example. What we need make invidious more backend friendly (i always confused why invidious dev not focus on their api only) and able to have single source of truth on subscription, history across mobile, desktop frontend app

Your marketing is really confusing. If your target audience is really self hosted users, act like you mean it cuz the hardest part is integration, too many moving parts. You are too late for Mycroft party. If you set your mind, take a look for https://github.com/NeonGeckoCom/NeonCore and homeassistant. If you can integrate with their ecosystem well, your user base will be more than you advertised here for a year. Let's hope one day Lemmy is as big as Reddit. Good luck

He did one big rewritten before because of poor gui speed. I won't comment on of if he use ai or not or code quality, but you can probably search old posts about his rewritten. I do agree dev should keep his git history less susceptible especially in this ai slop age

Oh, hey, I saw your repo is stall for months and I thought your project go south. So you finally satisfied with your gui speed after rewritten? Good to see you make it, congrats. Already find a job? You should really design a good plugin sys with py, to expand more interactive data type. Let me know if you want to hear more.

Their zoom replacement is really expensive. what they really need is providing more affordable services, but that's the hardest part. Developing features users don't need just hurt their business. Anyway, if you can afford, their services are good

Thanks for sharing with us. I personally don't like subscription svc which needs internet connection, but at least they open source some part of whole app and offer free tier. Some bro/sis are gonna like it. Microcad looks like heading to programmatic approach like openscad. Anyway, begger cannot be chooser, I simply appreciate everyone's hardwork and hope the best of all open source projects

I agree with op. lots of ppl miss key points and have fantasy with ai are on small guys' side. Even with llm with open weight like deepseek, how close non-gov,non-com organisation can replicate results like deepseek? Where do you get enough training data, gpu, power? There's reason why some area like hardware, payment are very hard to dominate by open source svc/prod/solution. Ai is very resources intensive and the need is from labor, capital in old day to labor, capital, hardware, training data. Ai make pay wall taller and stronger. We are fxxx. X.X T.T

Syncthing is pretty unmaintained now, community worries about it get abandoned multiple times. Stick around and introduce your app to those future post and your app will shine. If you are into serious backup, i would look at bareos, but it is way overkill for most ppl and old too, but very good backup pro sumer lvl open source solution. I once tried hard to shop around
