Fallout New Vegas canonized choices in Fallout 2. Fallout 2 canonized choices in Fallout 1. This is how all the games have gone. Should New Vegas not exist because it isn't New Reno or Vault City as factions instead of the NCR. Should they not have made Fallout 2 since it invalidates certain choices in Fallout 1?
I don't like the show doing away with the NCR but that is the choices made by the people in charge of the story and I liked the show despite it basically going against 3 games worth of build up and choices I made. At the end of the day, not everything is about me.
He didn't say anything about reusing characters from the show at all. The article merely imparted that the show is part of the game universe and will see the same treatment that past Fallout games have gotten. IE, the events of the game happened (with canon choices) and will probably be referenced in future games.
This is an organization with published statements and claims though. Not some random jackanape on Twitter. And anti-semetism has hate crime legislation detailing it and legal precedents. Calling someone an asshole is subjective but anti-semetism has actual objective definitions.
I mean, even if you can't taste it well, cooking still could be a fun or relaxing activity that is shared by a ton of people. And it is done by following processes and getting tips or tricks from others for certain dishes. Plus, you kinda gotta do it anyway to live, so it isn't a bad hobby/interest to have.
Yeah, most scenes and communities on Lemmy are pretty low on engagement. You will probably have to go where the majority are for a bit until you can find better hubs for it. Like I said in the last post, you'd likely have to find discords through subreddits or other true crime areas on the internet to get to regular conversation about it. I like Lemmy and I hope it will eventually be something but right now, it is very far down the list of active social media hubs.
True crime is a huge thing. Lots of people like talking about various crimes and the people that committed them. And theories about them. You can find huge communities about that stuff. Lots of discords. It's not my personal cup of tea, so I can't really help too much with diving deeper and unfortunately all I am doing is pointing you in a general direction.
Cooking is the same way. Plus cooking is an activity/interest. Have you ever tried recreating dishes from those shows/clips or branch out into learning to cook/bake/etc with other videos? I mean, I know that's not the focus of those specific shows but has watching them sparked interest in any of that? There are, again, tons of massive online communities based around cooking different stuff. Plus you'd get to eat tasty food as you got better at it.
That's just the tip of the iceberg though. If you got to thinking about the stuff you watch, read, or just in general pay attention to, you'll start seeing why you are interested in those things and that is the commonality you can find to branch out with people. That's the topics you want to post or comment on. That's the things that you can use to bridge the societal gaps between you and others. And interacting with people, even if it's just chatting about stuff that you (and they) enjoy on lemmy or discord or wherever is what starts friendships.
Watching shit is an interest though. What are you watching? Why do you watch it? What about it interests you over other stuff you could be watching? Even if it's doomscrolling youtube, you'll see something interesting eventually. Post about those things. Talk about them, leave comments on them. Search for communities who like them and try to join those sites/hubs/discords/etc.
It has probably been told to you before, but shared activities/interests are key. Work out of your comfort zone. You seem to be fine with making Lemmy posts, so I would start there and just post little "shower thoughts" or hot takes or whatever about your interests in relevant communities. People will respond and you just engage from there. Maybe find a discord or some other hub of discussion through those conversations and continue on down various rabbit holes.
The main thing to work on is getting over your insecurities, even if it is just slowly building confidence in yourself with different minor (or hopefully major!) interactions with people. Sometimes it will go poorly but you have to think about why it did and how you can improve your chances next time. But it is important that there is always a next time.
I am going through LE on Linux right now with my wife. I installed the ME3Tweaks Mod Manager using WINE and then installed mods through it designating my LE1, LE2, and LE3 directories in the Steam installation.
I have only installed the ME2 QoL mod of 1 probe getting all resources for a planet (after my wife experienced the tedium of probing planets for resources) so we could get back to playing. That mod has worked flawlessly so I would assume mods being installed through that Mod Manager are potentially just as stable.
On the anecdotal flip side to this, my 3 year old LOVES Daniel Tiger and gets bored easily if she is watching anything live action. About the only "real people" shows she likes is the occasional Ms Rachel or Odd Squad episode. We even read her Daniel Tiger bedtime stories.
I'll check out Vesktop. Will it stream my games/desktop (I use this sporadically depending on with group of friends I'm gaming with) just fine to people using Discord? Can I still use it for quests (very rarely do I do this but the occasional game pops up on there)?
