I've been listening to the various microbe.tv podcasts for probably 15 years at this point, This Week in Virology and This Week in Parasitism being my favorites (RIP Dickson Despommier). Skeptic's Guide to the Universe even longer. Some people seem to only be aware of hollywood celebrity podcasts.
Actually, what's happening right now in the US would indeed have been stopped with votes. You don't vote to make the perfect world, you vote to minimize the damage. You can do all those other things that you imagine are more impactful the other 364 days of the year in addition.
They only block some Mullvad servers, if I hit the change location button once or twice I always get through. At least on Swedish servers which I usually use.

"Our favorite thing about PCBWay has to be their shared projects. This week we'd like to highlight the one about using old cat6 for trapping and the best places to scavenge for it"
Are you sure you weren't looking at some patron's profile? As far as I can tell the .world profile pics are just blue and green letters or a lemmy logo.

Whether it's netflix or gamepass or reddit or discord or bluesky or whatever the same enshittification playbook always applies if you're trying to make a profit: offer a "good deal" until people have bought into your service enough to feel like they can't do without it, and then start slaughtering the piggies.
Since you're into philosophy now, you should look into the fact that free will doesn't even exist. Where does that leave your beliefs? Did you learn about people fooling themselves with comforting, self-serving illusions in therapy school?
The games have different settings so the amount of sci-fi differs, but a ton of fantasy JRPGs have "surprise" sci-fi element reveals at some point. Although the same goes for western RPGs too I guess; Ultima, Wizardry and Might & Magic all have their sci-fi moments.
As for suggestions, I was going to say the Gothic or Risen games, but there's a fair amount of struggling involved in the beginning if you're not into that, and the combat isn't exactly incredible, so I'll just second Avowed which is way more fun than I expected.
They are technically trains*, if you don't want to consider them their own thing. There are plenty of languages where the name doesn't contain "car" if that's your metric.
More like three decades. Origin used to be one of the most legendary game studios before it was a crappy launcher. They also killed Westwood, Bullfrog, and many others.
It should make it harder for him to influence politics globally as well. People seem to think they have to listen when the world's richest man speaks, but the world's 20th richest one doesn't have that sway. Also seeing his net worth plummet should make other would-be emperors less inclined to throw their lot in with him.
