I generally agree with you, but I think the broadest category of useful applications is missing: Where it's easy to check if the output makes sense. Or more precisely, applications where it's easier to select the good outputs of an AI then to create them yourself.
For me, Baldurs Gate 2. So much story to immerse yourself in, companions to learn about. And on top of that really fun fighting; a good amount of tactical thinking needed, but not too much.
I've never paid for anything that expensive in cash. To those opposing the idea: Have you? Did it need to be cash?
