I wish Snikket could work on Yunohost! 😱 I have a core i5-10500T and 32G

Well yunohost seems to support prosody, that should work very well. Snikket is basically just prosody with some extensions preinstalled. If you want an xmpp server on yunohost you could just install prosody or alternatively run snikket in a docker container. Prosody might even be easier to setup if you can install it via the yunohost gui.

I still love getting messages via xmpp from friends and family using my own snikket/ejabberd instances after years of use. Calls as well.

Video conferences via jitsi meet fill my heart with joy since the covid epidemic. These are also xmpp based. It's just a cool lightweight protocol.

Oh I see, if you need to run stuff that is not working out of the box, like gaming peripherals, an immutable distro probably is not the right choice... That's good to know, and probably will always be the tradeoff, but you get a distro that is very hard to break on the plus side...

Ask in the simeacing on linux matrix room, the guys are very knowledgeable. It's linked by some poster below. Devices like handbrakes often don't get recognised as joysticks, because they don't have buttons. You have to add a little config file and it will be recognised just fine on linux.

I had that problem with my mx 400 after using it for many years. Found a lifehack on YouTube where you put a piece of cardboard inside the mouse on the switch somewhere if I remember correctly. My daughter still uses that mouse. It's an easy fix that should work with any mouse basically. I think I fixed that one around ten years ago and it's still going strong.

Simplewall works great, it's open source. And yes, there are a couple of million requests made by windows apps alone, which are completely fine to block. Simplewall also blocks windows telemetry. I have to use win11 at work and it's an absolute ahitstorm of network requests that you don't get to see when using windows firewall.

Glaswire looks beautiful and functions well, but you will hit the paywall after a couple of weeks (I used this on the around 2010 I think)

I just use my toothbrush after cleaning the teeth with the leftover paste still on it. Works well for me and is also said to hinder the spread of viruses in some kind of manner, at least I think I read this on the news some time ago.

I also used the backside of the brush for this but my method seems more effective to me, I would like to see a study about this.

I've got this setup on my car stereo (android based): Cheap numpad from alibaba with mechanical keys (around 10 Euros) T9 keyboard app from fdroid. Types in addresses into comaps way faster and safer than the screen keyboard and can navigate my mp3 folders easily to play music.

I've seeded on a router from 2013 with 128 mb ram. Transmission client runs on openwrt. It was running all the time as an access point anyways I think using around 4 watts of power. 128 mb of ram was cutting it rather close and I had to add a swap file but the system was running stable. If you have an old router compatible with openwrt and an USB port to add an external hdd you can build yourself a very cheap and power efficient seedbox.I think the xiaomi mir3g has the same chipset at double the ram. Those can be bought for around 15-20 Euros used in my region.
