Before he invaded Ukraine in 2022, many people also said that he might be insane to try. Well, he is.
He can do absolutely anything, and it doesn't cost him anything. It costs Russians, but there's still a lot there to such dry of he wants to.
My point: don't consider him pragmatic. He's a senile man with bombs and does what he wants.
I come from Russia. Everyone whom I know there were feeling economic strain from 2022 (actually, from covid). It gets worse steadily.
Middle class limits their spending, while people with lower income are calculating every item in a supermarket. (And btw, middle class is a veeeery small group there). And many are deep in dept.
If you think Russian government budges, you're wrong. The poorer the population, the better! Its great incentive to get enlisted, and keeps people distracted from being naughty. Also increases reliance on the governmental support, which comes with a price.
Oh, and rich keep riching, in case you're wondering.
What I want to say: don't get too happy. Increasing poverty doesn't mean that Russia will stop all its BS. When normal people have no money, Putin will keep drinking their blood, so there's enough resources for years to come.
I might be misreading your comment, but I kinda want to be a bit on defence here. I apologise if my comment is misplaced.
Some people migrate because they genuinely want to live elsewhere. I'm from Russia and migrated to Germany for family, but before that I also lived in other countries. The reason was not because living in Moscow was bad (years ago before the current war, it wasn't), but because it's exciting to embrace new cultures and maybe fall in love with a city and its people on another part of the Earth.
Similarly, a few of my German friends migrated to the US, UK, Spain and Southeast Asia because they followed their hearts, not because they can't make a living at home... And a couple of my American buddies now live in Germany. Is it that bad? Do the foreigners really bring thar much unrest?
I think the mood changed significantly in the last decade. Now everyone is seen as a part of evil mass of immigrants. (And more often than not, racism plays a significant role in those discussions. the darker the skin, the least welcomed people are).
I believe the commenter meant that the price of medical care in the USA push people to extensively rely on AI (or online communities btw), not that Americans are especially gullible or prone to AI psychosis.
When I am.in distress, I repeat that I'm safe, I'm okay, etc. It's true for me, since I'm not in any dire situation or danger, and restating it helps me to calm down my anxious mind.
It's an unbelievable tragedy... My heart is with the victims and the queer community.
The whole situation reminds me of Pulse club shooting in Orlando. Similarly, Berliner murderer was known to the police, and I cannot fathom how and why was he let go from the prison.
Very nice! I need Windows unfortunately for software, but when I get a new machine for professional stuff, my old one defs goes Mint:) Just needed more buffer time to save money!

I receive those calls a few tomes a month...
Russian here. Some people hate communism because they lived through that shit, and didn't like it.
(Can't say I like what came afterwards either heh.)
Yay! Great investment. Totally worth the buck.

Well, regardless of the average evilness of Russians in general, we can agree that that one Russian is surely an evil piece of shit.
Agreed! as an architect, I'm quite disappointed with the building selection.
This one is incredibly beautiful!

I like your position!, there's beauty in simplicity:)
Some people use TripAdvisor, Foursquare, or Yelp, but all of them have smaller user bases and neither of them is open source:(
I genuinely don't understand how does this whole situation benefit stakeholders. Do they plan to cash out big before the bubble bursts?
That's how I was taught, but it doesn't seem to capture the many connotations of this concept!
