Our house is generally on the quieter side. Partly because some of us are on the spectrum, and partly because we like to actually hear each other when we converse. Haven't paid for TV in years, don't miss it.
If I really need to vent & then let go of it all, I journal on a spare piece of paper (or several) and then burn them. The process of setting it all aflame is cleansing, plus the added bonus that nobody else can read it.
Of course, practice flame safety. In a pinch, a candle on the balcony can work. Use tongs, save your fingers.
Not op, but it sounds like a Tolkien reference to me. A riff on his description of the elves. Most of them leave Middle Earth to return to the west, while the few that remain watch the world fade from its former glory and fall into decay.
The whole concept of a "dad joke" exists because dads realize they probably shouldn't be telling sexualized jokes to small children and adjust their humor accordingly. They are inherently family friendly.
I'm baffled that the r. mods even let it be up for discussion.
