Main (current) hexbear dev here. We are all wrapped up getting hexbear back on top of upstream lemmy. All our features are merged in, and we are now preparing for our migration. We don't have concrete plans yet for federation itself that I'm aware of, and will likely be up to the community.
yes, but literally every industry is going to be completely filled with liberals. we're in america and its the dominant ideology. I don't think software engineering has any particular aspects that any other industry doesn't.
According to the docs at https://join-lemmy.org/docs/administration/backup_and_restore.html, changing domain will break federation. Not sure in what ways, but best to be aware of that and mitigate as best you can. Good luck guys!
