The wet floor sign is the part that gets me. Doors and cold spots you can talk yourself out of, but you and your partner both watched it tip, slam and slide up the hallway — that's the kind of thing you can't unsee.

Also interesting that so many of these happen on third shift with two people present. Thanks for writing them up.

The aperture argument is the strongest part of this. But it cuts both ways — if the object was feeding an amplified return into the G750, then the 20km figure isn't a measurement of the object at all, it's a measurement of whatever the object wanted the console to display. Which means the 1,500 mph closing speed everyone quotes is derived from the same compromised data. You can't discard the range as unphysical and keep the kinematics that were calculated from it.

Do the ship's logs distinguish between the sonar range and any independent visual or radar fix before the blackout?
