I couldn't agree more. I left Israel in 2014 for a variety of reasons, a short list of which would include:
Bibi as PM
The whole society becoming a nickel and dime internet seedy place
Religious people everywhere
Russians who brutalized the entire culture into something it never was like before.
Saying you're not happy is equivalent there of saying you're "yored". Israel has become a cult. It should still exist, but it needs to drastically change.
Well...Brexit. It's all about Brexit and how stupid the voters were to support it. No one wants to say that out loud, the voters don't want to admit it, but that's the reason. And it's that same kind of idiocy which currently is affecting U.S. Politics: A huge number of voters are idiots. They're stupid; ignorant; deluded; imbeciles. No one wants to say it in public, no one wants to blame them, and so we are where we are.
@CmdrGraves As a half-American and half-Frenchman, and having grown up a lot in the USA, it is true that I am loud.
I do have a valid excuse, however: I was trained from the age of 10 until 14 to be an opera singer in the Children's Chorus at the Metropolitan Opera of NYC, and the New York City Opera. I appeared many times on stage and, thus, was trained to project on instinct.
I can't apologise enough for this mannerism, but it wasn't anything to do with my being American, but with opera. 😀
I think we need a "Coalition of Freedom" to work with all those people in the USA who are resisting and organizing. That doesn't mean buying from the US, but it does mean working with groups, such as Galloway's Resist and Unsubscribe movement. I'm pissed off at America beyond words, but I do support those who are trying to resist and change things over there. Our Buy From EU/Canada campaigns are supported by those people there, which I appreciate.
@bossito I'm now considering dumping Reddit finally and moving to Lemmy. I haven't decided which yet, but lemmy.world does look interesting, plus I could use it in Emacs (always a bonus). Thank you for posting all of this information - it's been very helpful.
@Randelung@CAVOK I couldn't agree more. I'm American and French, and I live in France now. I do not trust any American company, or it's government, or military. The only way I will ever be "with America" ever again is if there is a real revolution to overthrow the Nazi regime and to remake the Constitution from scratch. Until then, I will regard it as a threat.

That's why the PMs come and go.

@Zwuzelmaus @LtDan The fact that someone even posits this question really points out just how bereft many Americans are of an actual general education.

@Thekingoflorda Thanks!
@bossito Yeah I just joined Lemmy.ml and I'm migrating my subreddits. Pretty cool.
